The public were urged to stay away the scene of a fire at a block of flats lasts night.
Fire crews tackled the blaze in Albion Street, Brighton, at around 9pm with four appliances from Brighton, Roedean, and Hove scrambling to the area.
Crews used breathing apparatus and a main hose to beat the fire.

There were no reported casualties and East Sussex Fire and Rescue Service said all people had been accounted for.
A spokesman for the fire service said: "We were called to a residential fire in Albion Street.
"Four pumps are in attendance from Brighton, Roedean and Hove. Crews are using breathing aparatus and a main jet to put out the fire.
"No casualties have been reported and all persons are accounted for. Please avoid the area."
