A pensioner has been fined after a traffic camera on the A27 recorded them driving at a speed seven mph above the limit.
David Chugg, 75, from Victoria Avenue, Porthcawl, was fined £40 and received three penalty points on his driving record after being caught driving over the over the 40 mph speed limit.
Chugg committed the offence on April 14, 2022, while driving his Toyota on the A27 Upper Brighton Road, in the Hillbarn area of Sompting, a road subject to a local traffic order limiting driving speeds to 40 mph.
The automatic camera device recorded his speed at 47 mph.

Chugg appeared virtually at West Glamorgan Magistrates' Court on May 4 and was ordered to pay a £16 surcharge to fund victim services and £90 in costs.
The driving record of Chugg was endorsed with three points.
A collection order for the fine was made and Chugg's guilty plea was taken into account by the court when imposing the fine.
The notification of Chugg's conviction for speeding was sent to the DVLA and Chugg's licence was not suspended.
