A man has been arrested after another man was hit and killed by a car.
The man, 64, was pronounced dead at the scene at around 12.40am this morning in Clayton Hill near Hassocks.
A 59-year-old man from Hove has been arrested on suspicion of causing death by careless driving and failing to stop after a road accident.
He remains in custody at this time.
Police officers arrived at Poynings Drive in Hove at around 11am and took pictures of the underside of a taxi.
A witness said that forensics were taking swabs of the taxi at 3pm before it was taken away around an hour later.
Sussex Police confirmed their investigation in Poynings Drive was linked to the death near Hassocks.
Enquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances.
Police are appealing for any information, or anyone who saw the man in the area around that time. They would particularly like to speak to anyone who may have captured relevant dash cam footage in the vicinity of Clayton Hill.
