A teenage girl who fell from a 15ft wall on to the concrete below was “scooped up by a stranger and swung around as a dog snapped at her legs”, her mother said.
Lily Thompson, 13, from Woodingdean, was walking with a friend on a footpath in Rottingdean on Sunday (May 14) when she fell over a wall and crashed oncto the walkway below.
But instead of ensuring Lily remained still as she waited for emergency services, a woman is said to have added to the poor girl’s trauma by assaulting her.
“Some maniac was walking along the undercliff with their partner and dogs when my daughter fell off the path above on to the concrete,” said Lily’s mum, Sam Thompson, 51.
“The woman has picked Lily up off the ground and hugged her, then began spinning her around while her dog is biting Lily’s legs.
“Then she’s got my daughter over her shoulder, picked her little dog up in her other hand and is telling my daughter to kiss the dog.
“She told Lily that she was her guardian angel and that she shouldn’t go to the hospital.”
The stranger was accompanied by a man aged in his 70s who was wearing a high vis jacket and walking a second, larger dog, she said.
“I’m terrified of what could happen with these sorts of people around. I don’t like drama. Just put me in a little bubble and lock me away,” said Sam, who did not witness the incident but was describing what she had been told.
An air ambulance was scrambled to the scene though Lily was taken to hospital via road with minor injuries after her friend called the emergency services.
Furious Sam reported the incident to the police who are now appealing for anyone who witnessed the incident to come forward.
A spokesman for Sussex Police said: “Police received a report of a teenage girl having been assaulted on Rottingdean Beach on Sunday (14 May).
“The girl was approached by a female member of the public after falling from a wall, who was reported to have assaulted her.

The incident is reported to have taken place at around 5.30pm.
