A man was found dead by the side of a road after a possible hit-and-run.
Police were called to the scene in Clayton Hill in Hassocks, at around 12.40am this morning after concerns were raised for the man’s welfare.
He was pronounced dead at the scene.
The road was closed for a time this morning, with enquiries ongoing to establish the full circumstances of the man’s death.
Police are investigating the possibility the 64-year-old man was involved with a collision with a vehicle.

A police spokeswoman said: “Officers attended Clayton Hill around 12.40am on Thursday, May 18, after concerns were raised for the welfare of a man found by the side of the road.
“He was sadly pronounced dead at the scene.
“Enquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances, including the possibility the man was involved in a collision with a vehicle.
“Police are appealing for any information, or anyone who saw the man in the area around that time.
“They would particularly like to speak to anyone who may have captured relevant dash cam footage in the vicinity of Clayton Hill.”
