Brighton is set to be as hot as the Spanish city of Barcelona this Sunday (May 21), the Met Office predicts.
Currently, the forecaster has both cities reaching highs of 18C that day, with Brighton actually receiving slightly sunnier periods overall.
The UK as a whole is set to bask in temperatures slightly higher than usual this weekend after a fairly cool spring.
The Met Office's forecast for the UK as a whole on Sunday reads: "On Sunday, cloud and intermittent rain over Scotland and Northern Ireland may spread into some parts of northwest England and maybe Wales later.

"Otherwise, a fine day for many with warm sunshine, although feeling cooler in the far southeast with a brisk breeze.
"Through next week and the beginning of the following week, the overall settled theme will continue with predominantly fine and dry weather for most."

The current Met Office page for Brighton has the forecast for Sunday broken down as follows:
- 7am - 10C, sunny
- 10 am - 15C, sunny
- 1 pm - Overcast, 18C
- 4 pm - Cloudy, 18C
- 7 pm - Sunny, 18C
- 10 pm - Clear night, 13C
Barcelona is set to be more consistently warmer throughout the day with it not dropping below 16C, but will peak at around the same period in the day as Brighton.
