The A23 has been partially closed after a multi vehicle crash, causing three miles of congestion.
Several vehicles have been involved in the collision which has forced National Highways to close two of the three lanes on the road.
Police are reported to be on the scene in response to the incident.
A National Highways spokesman said on Twitter: “Two lanes of three are closed on the A23 northbound between B2117 and B2118 near Hickstead due to a multi vehicle collision. Sussex Roads Police are on scene.”
The crash near Hickstead is currently causing around 30 minutes of delays on the northbound section of the road near Hickstead.
Sussex Police have been approached for comment.
