A robot has written the UK’s next Eurovision smash hit – and it’s based on Brighton.
Ahead of the song contest’s final taking place today, The Argus asked ChatGPT, an artificial intelligence service, to write a Eurovision song about the city.
The song, named “Brighton Lights”, was described as “modern pop with a hint of disco and funk” and takes inspiration from the seaside as “a place where dreams come true and everything’s bright”.
It begins by focusing on the “pebbled beach” as well as the Palace Pier before diving into a chorus celebrating how the city “steals our hearts”.
The AI writes about how Brighton’s “music is loud and the people are awesome”.
The song also includes a bridge and outro which applaud different parts of Brighton such as the promenade and sunsets.
When asked about how the song would sound, ChatGPT said: “The song's energetic and upbeat tempo coupled with its catchy melody and danceable rhythm would make it an ideal party anthem that could get people up and dancing.
“Overall the style would be designed to be fun, upbeat and easy to dance to, capturing the lively spirit and atmosphere of Brighton.”

We also asked how well the song might do if it were used as the UK’s Eurovision entry, with the AI saying: “If the Brighton-themed Eurovision song has a catchy melody, an engaging rhythm and relatable lyrics that capture the essence of Brighton's vibrant culture and atmosphere it could have the potential to do well at Eurovision.”
