An “unauthorised encampment” has been removed from a village after reports of anti-social behaviour.
The camp was successfully moved after powers to tackle camps causing “damage, disruption or distress” were enforced.
Police intervened to move the camp in Southwater near Horsham after a series of incidents beginning on Wednesday, May 10, including the shooting of air rifles.
A spokesman for Sussex Police in Horsham said: “We’ve used police powers to successfully move an unauthorised encampment from Southwater.
“It follows a series of incidents over the past 24 hours, including antisocial behaviour and shooting of air rifles.
“We've engaged with the community and thank you for your understanding.”
Under the Police, Crimes, Sentencing and Courts Act 2022, officers were given strengthened powers to tackle unauthorised encampments.
