Passengers headed for Alicante were shocked when their flight landed in the same country they had left.
Ryanair flight RUK973 left Manchester Airport this afternoon at 2.20pm and was headed for Alicante in Spain.
But just an hour later, it landed at Gatwick Airport.

It is now scheduled to depart from Gatwick and continue with its journey to Alicante at 5.06pm.
It is unclear why the plane had to make an unforeseen pit stop.
Ryanair has been contacted for comment.
