Two lanes remain closed on the A27 westbound between Holmbush and the Shoreham flyover A283.
A spokesman for National Highways said: "Temporary concrete barriers have now been installed and the A27 is now open westbound between A293 for Southwick and A283 for Shoreham.
"Lanes one and two remain closed due to the layout of the road, however the exit slip road for the A283 has re-opened."
