An Artificial Intelligence model has predicted Albion’s FA Cup semi-final against Manchester United this weekend – with the robot foreseeing a closely fought clash.
Brighton will make the trip to Wembley for the cup clash this afternoon in their first semi-final appearance since 2019.
Ahead of the match, we asked AI model ChatGPT to predict the game, with the computer predicting a tightly fought battle.
To get the prediction from the AI, The Argus asked: “There is an FA cup semi-final football match between Brighton and Hove Albion and Manchester United on Sunday, April 23, at Wembley Stadium. Given previous results and the two teams' performance in the 2022/23 Premier League so far, who would you predict is the favourite to win and what will the score be?”
ChatGPT said that based on previous results and current form “the match is likely to be a closely contested affair and the final scoreline could be a narrow victory for either side”.

It added: “Results indicate that Brighton and Hove Albion are capable of causing upsets against top-tier teams and cannot be under-estimated in the upcoming FA cup semi-final match against Manchester United.
“While Manchester United still have a stronger overall squad and better track record, Brighton and Hove Albion's recent form and victories will give them confidence and motivation to perform at their best in this match.”
However, taking everything into account, the AI thought Albion would lose 2-1.
Predicting the game’s goal scorers, ChatGPT got a little bit confused, with Cristiano Ronaldo, Paul Pogba and Neal Maupay expected to hit the back of the net.
After some corrections, the language model finally predicted that Alexis Mac Allister and Solly March were the most likely to score for Albion.
For United, Bruno Fernandes and Marcus Rashford, who returned from injury in a midweek loss to Sevilla, were predicted to lead the opposition attacking threat.
Albion will take on Manchester United in the FA Cup semi-final this afternoon, with kick off at 4.30pm.
