The Victoria Fountain will not be operational for the King’s coronation next month, it can be revealed.
Brighton and Hove City Council confirmed this morning that the historic water feature will be officially unveiled in June.
All major sections of the fountain are now back on the Old Steine after being taken away for vital repair work in January.
A crane lifted the base back into place yesterday morning, with the large water bowls following shortly after, though there is still work to be done.
A spokeswoman for the city council said: “The work completed so far looks amazing and we can’t wait to see it finished and back to its former glory.
“It will remain behind hoardings to keep it safe while further refurbishment work takes place on-site.
“The plan is to have it fully operational before we unveil it. The estimated date for this is by mid-June.”
