The A259 is closed in both directions after a crash and “large fuel spillage” on the carriageway.
Fuel was spilt across the road forcing National Highways to close the road near Bexhill.
Sussex Police are reported to be in attendance and leading the incident response. A diversion route has been put in place.
A National Highways spokesman said: “The A259 in East Sussex is closed in both directions between the A2036 and the A269, Bexhill, due to a Sussex Police led incident and large spillage across the carriageway.

“Sussex Police are in attendance.”
The road was initially closed at around 6am this morning following the incident.
National Highways added that traffic is being diverted “by local routes”.
Traffic data shows congestion forming towards the Hastings Road roundabout where the closure is in effect.
Sussex Police have been approached for comment.
