A pier has been closed after strong winds hit the coast following a Met Office weather warning.
Worthing Pier has been forced to shut for the day as gales buffeted Sussex throughout the day.
Now, following the forecast, Adur and Worthing Council has taken the decision to close the pier as a precaution.
It is expected to re-open when the weather passes.
On Twitter, a council spokesman said: “Due to strong winds Worthing Pier will be closed for the rest of today and this evening.
“The pier is expected to open as usual tomorrow morning. Thank you for your understanding.”

Earlier this week the Met Office issued a yellow weather warning for wind which stretched across Sussex.
The wind warning has been in place since 6am this morning and disruption is expected until 8pm this evening including delays on roads and to buses and trains.
A statement on the Met Office website said: “A swathe of strong winds potentially bringing some disruption on Wednesday.
“It’s likely that some coastal routes, sea fronts and coastal communities will be affected by spray and/or large waves.
“Some delays to road, rail, air and ferry transport are likely.”
