MANY of us are thinking of ways to keep the children entertained without blowing all of our cash. So we looked up some places where children can eat for free or £1 and tried one out to check what the deal was like.
Bill’s
Bill’s is a huge Sussex success story, so we decided to head to Lewes, the town where the first one opened.
Up to two children can eat free all day from Monday, April 3 to Friday, April 14l (excluding weekend 8th & 9th), if one adult orders any main dish (breakfast, lunch, and dinner). The children’s menu includes buttermilk pancakes, mac and cheese, and fish fingers & chips.
The mac and cheese was a popular choice. The other options were a hamburger, vegan meatball pasta, buttermilk fried chicken and chips, chargrilled chicken with carrot and hummus and fish fingers.
You get a side with that, like carrot and hummus, chips, peas, mash, salad or beans. A dessert was also included so this was really good for children eat free. The chocolate mousse was lovely, the other options included different flavours of ice cream, a lemon sorbet and an apple pie sundae.
What about the adults, you ask. Well the seafood linguine was pretty good but could have been bigger and the sauce a little richer and slightly spicier. The winning order on our table was the huge buttermilk chicken burger. It was a crumbed chicken breast, creamy coleslaw, chipotle mayonnaise, tomato, seeded bun and rosemary salted fries. It was like a big Wiener Schnitzel in a bun with amazing dressing and coleslaw to stop it from being dry.
The Bill’s beer is really good too. There are Bill’s at Brighton, Lewes, Eastbourne, Chichester and Horsham.
Asda
If you are doing your shop at the Hollingbury Asda then the supermarket chain is offering a children eat for free deal Monday to Friday after 3pm when you spend £4 in the café. Children under 16 only.
