A post-mortem investigation into the alleged attempted murder of a woman has proved inconclusive.
Investigations into the woman’s death continue after she was found with serious injuries at a house in Cowley Drive, Woodingdean.
The woman was taken to hospital shortly after the incident on Thursday, March 30, but died two days later.
In a statement, a Sussex Police spokeswoman said: “The post-mortem was inconclusive and further tests will be carried out to determine the cause of death.”
The force previously updated that a 47-year-old man from Newhaven had been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder and had since been released on bail with strict conditions.

The woman’s next of kin have been informed and are being supported by specially trained officers.
Previously Detective Chief Inspector Alex Campbell said: “This is a fast-moving investigation, and the public can expect to see an increased police presence in the area.
“There is not believed to any wider risk to the public and we are not looking for anyone else in relation to this incident at this time.
“Anyone with information which may assist the investigation is asked to contact police online or by calling 101 quoting Operation Bradwall.”
