Worthing: MasterChef winner Kenny Tutt's Bayside Social closing

Bayside Social was opened by MasterChef winner Kenny Tutt and his wife Lucy Tutt in July 2021 but will be closing next Sunday, April 15.

The two owners of the restaurant, which is on Worthing seafront east of the pier, said that “rising costs” and the “long-lasting effects of Covid on hospitality businesses” is behind their closure.

They will be focusing on their other business Pitch, also in the town, and said they are excited for the future.

Their statement read:  “We’re sad to say that we will be closing Bayside Social in a couple of weeks – our last weekend will be 15th and 16th April.

“We have loved being at this location on the beach, but with rising costs and the long-lasting effects of Covid on hospitality businesses, we’ve made the decision to concentrate on our other site, Pitch in Worthing, and we’re really excited for what’s yet to come.

“A huge thank you to our customers – we look forward to seeing many of you here before we close, and hopefully at our other restaurants in the future.

Bayside Social serves a range of fresh seasonal produce, with a particular focus on fish and seafood dishes.

It prides itself on its 180-degree views of Worthing’s coastline in a “relaxed beachfront setting”.

Tributes poured in from customers following the announcement.

Christine Williams said: “Oh will miss Bayside... had some lovely days sat in the sun there. Sorry you're going. Good luck.”

Vivien Rowbotham said: “We will miss you and Bayside Social was an asset to Worthing. Thank you for all the lovely food and service.”

Carl Fletcher said the venue, staff and food “have always been exemplary”.

The restaurant is currently open seven days a week, mostly 9am to 4pm apart from on Saturdays where it is open from 9am to 9pm. It opens from 9am to 5pm on Sundays.

Kenny and Lucy, both from Worthing, opened Pitch in May 2019, after he won Masterchef.

Kenny won the long-running BBC show in 2018.
