A new study has revealed that students are spending hundreds more on parking to get to university during train strikes.
The data, in a study by YourParkingSpace, shows that students in Sussex will have spent £474.54 more on parking since the start of the train strikes.
Since the start of the train strikes in 2022, there has been a total of 33 days of disruptions across the country due to industrial action on the rail network.
National government statistics show that commuting is the most popular reason for using the rail network, with 49 per cent of passengers using it to get to school or work.

With trains out of use, and bus services extremely busy, many students decide to drive to get to their lectures.
Brannan Coady, the chief executive of YourParkingSpace said: “As the public transport system in the UK becomes more unreliable, students from all over the country may be forced into commuting by car.
“Unfortunately, a lot of universities are in high-congestion areas making parking harder and more expensive.”
