Cubitt and West donates more than £100,000 to Sussex food banks

Aware of the impact of the cost of living crisis on families across Sussex, Cubitt and West donated £100 to food banks every time their agents attended a property valuation.

The campaign has raised over £110,000 for food banks across Sussex, as well as local community pantries administered through the Sussex Community Foundation.

On top of the donations, agents for the firm have visited local food banks to volunteer their time to help others.

Across South East England, Arun Estates - the parent company of Cubitt and West - has raised over £750,000 since January, helping over 90 food banks across the region.

Aldo Sotgiu, group managing director of Arun Estates, said: “It has been a truly humbling experience for all of us to learn more about how food banks support our local communities.

“To be able to support and provide in a way that gives back to our community is a great feeling and there is still so much more help we need to give over the coming months.

CEO of the Sussex Community Foundation Kevin Richmond said: “We are very grateful to Cubitt and West for providing this valuable support over such a harsh time for people across Sussex.

“We know how much it has been appreciated by the amazing people who run these local food banks and those in the community who are depending on them right now.”

A recent survey by consumer magazine Which found that one in seven people have skipped meals due to the rising cost of living.

The publication’s consumer insight tracker also found that around four per cent of people admitted to using a food bank after struggling to make ends meet.

Founded in 1991, Arun Estates operates more than 100 branches across four regional brands, with Cubitt and West covering Surrey, Sussex and Hampshire.
