New routes for this year’s Brighton Marathon have been revealed - one month before the event returns to the city.
Changes have been made to both the Brighton Marathon and the 10-kilometre race as the weekend takes place for the first time under the new management of London Marathon Events.
Both events feature new routes and a new finish line in Hove Lawns, replacing the "Beach Village" near Madeira Drive.
While the marathon will start from Preston Park, the new route will see runners pass Withdean and more neighbourhoods around Hove, to ensure maximum crowd support is available where participants need it most.
Hugh Brasher, event director of the Brighton Marathon Weekend, said: “We are tremendously excited by the potential of this event and our vision for how it can grow in the future.
“We haven’t had a huge amount of time to make changes for 2023 but, by tweaking the routes and creating a new finish line experience, we believe that we will provide a much-improved experience for participants and spectators.
“This is just the start of our plans to make the Brighton Marathon Weekend one of the UK’s greatest mass participation events.
“These changes are the start of a new, exciting era for the Brighton Marathon Weekend.”
The new marathon route will start at Preston Park, going into Withdean before turning back down London Road towards the city centre.
Once passing the Royal Pavilion, runners will go into Kemp Town and follow the coast to Ovingdean, before turning back and heading along the promenade into Hove and finishing at Hove Lawns.

The BM10K race will also feature a starting line, also located at Hove Lawns, which ensures participants enjoy a truly coastal experience along the route, whilst still taking in the sights and landmarks of Brighton and Hove.
The Brighton Marathon, which first took place in 2010, is the third-largest marathon in the UK and will see thousands of runners, walkers and spectators flood the streets of the city next month.
The marathon will take place on April 2, with entries still available for £69.99 until 4pm on Friday, March 3.
