The leader of Brighton and Hove City Council has, once again, demonstrated that he lives in a different world to the rest of us.
Speaking in an exclusive interview with The Argus he was reported as saying that his administration would “reaffirm our commitment to go back to i360 and tell them that they need to start coughing up the money”.
It would appear from that statement that Cllr Mac Cafferty has never heard of the saying that includes the words “blood “, “out” and “stone”.
If the tower hasn’t got the money, because the number of people using it has never matched the original estimates, it can’t possibly repay the loan, not this month, not this year, not ever, no matter how much Cllr Mac Cafferty goes on about “working his hardest to see the loan gets paid back in full”.
He also mentioned that his party had called for it make larger payments to the council “while the sun was shining” but had been turned down.
Perhaps he can give The Argus another exclusive interview and let everyone know exactly when the sun ever shone brightly on the i360’s finances, or was it just an optical illusion?
