A supermarket is investigating after a recovering alcoholic claimed they were told to "buy a bottle of whiskey" by a member of staff.
The Argus understands a security guard is currently not working at the Lidl in Littlehampton, after a recovering alcoholic claimed they were told to buy a bottle of whiskey.
It is understood that the former drinker said he entered the store, in New Road, and was told he "should've bought a bottle of whiskey".
A spokeswoman for Lidl said: "We were extremely concerned to hear about this matter, and do not condone behaviour of this nature.
"As soon as the store team were made aware this was immediately raised with the third party security company to carry out a full investigation which is ongoing.
"A member of the management team is in direct contact with the customer."
