A police cordon has been set up and a tent erected at the site of an incident in a town centre.
Officers have closed off East Park in Crawley, with police tape and a tent spotted at the scene.
Paramedics and a police helicopter were also seen attending the incident, with forensics teams at the scene.
Police were called to an alleged assault in the vicinity of Malthouse Road in Crawley earlier this afternoon.
A police spokesman told The Argus: “Officers have contained the area, including the town centre and railway station, and assistance is being provided by the National Police Air Service helicopter.
“This is being treated as an isolated incident and the public can expect to see an increased police presence in the area as our enquiries continue.”
