A man has been taken to hospital after a collision on the A259.
Police and ambulance crews were called to Norfolk Bridge in Shoreham earlier this morning after the accident involving a car and a van.
Both vehicles were badly damaged in the crash and debris was scattered across the road, along with oil.
One man was taken to hospital following the crash with serious but not life-threatening injuries.
The road was closed for a time to motorists at the height of rush hour, causing severe delays in and around Shoreham and nearby Lancing as traffic diverted to alternative routes.
Bus services were also diverted due to the accident.

A police spokesman said: “Police received a report of a collision between a car and a van on Norfolk Bridge in Shoreham at about 7.45am today.
“One man was taken to hospital with serious but not life-threatening injuries. No other injuries were reported.
“A section of the road was temporarily closed until about 11am while emergency services attended the scene. It has since reopened.”
