The concerned family of a missing woman have appealed for people to “keep an eye out” for the 62-year-old.
Laurel Aldridge has been missing since yesterday morning after leaving the home she shares with her husband in Walberton, near Arundel.
Laurel’s son-in-law Charlie Wheeler said they are worried the mum of three, who is currently undergoing chemotherapy treatment, might be experiencing a mental health episode.
Laurel, who often takes her dogs out for walks, left the house with no keys, did not take her car and did not take her pets.
She did not let anyone know she was going out or where she would be going.
Sussex Police are searching for Laurel and a coastguard team and helicopter went out last night to look for her, but to no avail.
“She left the house at 7.20 yesterday morning,” said Mr Wheeler.
“We saw her on the Ring doorbell and all she had was warm clothes on her.
“She had a jumper, a jacket, a hat and some walking boots.
“But she didn’t have any keys, she didn’t have any cards, she didn’t take the car, she didn’t take her dogs and she’s just vanished.
“We don’t know where she’s gone.
“She’s currently undergoing chemo treatment and we’re worried she might be having some sort of mental health episode.”
Mr Wheeler urged people to “keep an eye out” for Laurel.
“Sussex Police are deploying officers in the local area to search all her favourite walking spots," he said.
“She walks her dogs all around Walberton.
“We’re looking for people to keep their eye out, rather than actively searching for her.
“It’s not about disrupting the police operation but rather keeping eyes peeled in the local areas.
“Now it’s been 24 hours the area she could have covered could be quite large.”
Stills from Ring doorbell footage shows Laurel wearing a grey coat over a turquoise jumper and a brown bobble hat.
Arun Police have asked people to call 999 quoting 347 of 14/02 if they see Laurel.
