Two teenagers have been charged with the murder of 16-year-old Brianna Ghey.
Brianna died on Saturday, February 11.
Her body was found in Culcheth Linear Park, in Warrington, and she was pronounced dead at the scene.
She had multiple stab wounds.
On Sunday evening, the police confirmed that two 15-year-olds had been arrested on suspicion of Brianna's murder.
Cheshire Police yesterday, Tuesday, announced that permission had been granted to hold the two 15-year-olds for an additional 30 hours in order to be questioned further.
Today, Wednesday, Feburary 15, Cheshire Police said: "A 15-year-old girl from Warrington and a 15-year-old boy from Leigh have today, Wednesday 15 February 2023, been charged with murder following the death of 16-year-old Brianna Ghey."
The pair are due to appear before Chester Magistrates' Court this morning.
It was announced by Cheshire Police that all avenues of enquiry were being looked into, including the possibility that Brianna's death could be a hate crime.
