After a gossip Twitter page falsely announced that Rihanna would headline Brighton Pride, fans took to the social media site to parody the big reveal.

The Argus has trawled through these memes, and here is our rundown of the five funniest parodies.

  1.  Sophia Dolmio

Sophia is a puppet from pasta sauce giant Dolmio's adverts. The older daughter from the Dolmio dynasty, Sophia rose to fame after featuring in primetime TV adverts. We are not sure how good she'd be at singing, though...

2.  Janice and Ray

Perhaps better known as "disgusted couple", Janice and Ray appeared in hit comedy sketch programme The Catherine Tate Show.

The couple appeared in several episodes and were always unimpressed with food they had eaten, from French bread sandwiches to tempura.

Fans might remember the line: "How can I be a racist, my great grandfather was a midget."

3. Kym Marsh

Rising to fame nearly two decades ago after she won a place in the band Hear'Say as a result of appearing on the reality television series Popstars, Kym Marsh is one of the few meme subjects who may actually be able to fulfil the role of Brighton Pride headliner.

At the moment, fans are speculating that Kym is the fawn on hit TV show the masked singer, so maybe she is keeping more than one secret.

4.  ChatGPT

ChatGPT is a chatbot which, when asked a question, can respond in paragraph form.

Developed by OpenAI and launched in November 2022, the bot is able to announce that it will headline Brighton Pride when prompted with a short line.

In its response, the artificial intelligence wrote: "Join us in celebrating love, diversity, and inclusivity at one of the biggest events of the year. Get ready for a day filled with exciting experiences and unforgettable memories."

5. AbLisa

Last but by no means least is AbLisa. The duo, made up of  Abbey Johnstone and Lisa Parker, rose to fame, or rather notoriety, after they auditioned for The X Factor in 2010.

The pair bickered before they began singing, and when guest judge Natalie Imbruglia told the girls their singing was "not great" Lisa said: "Who are you, may I ask?"

Abbey, furious with Lisa, elbowed her in the face before walking off stage. Lisa stuck her fingers up at the judges before leaving.

They would certainly have a stage presence.
