Emergency services are currently on the A27 with drivers facing delays.
There are reports of two fire engines and an ambulance responding to an incident on the A27 near Falmer.
Drivers currently face delays of five minutes, with AA reporting the average speed is 15mph.
One driver said traffic was "at a crawl" near where the services were.
He added that he could not see any signs of a fire.
East Sussex Fire and Rescue Service has been contacted for comment.
