A railway line into Brighton is blocked after a train hit “fly-tipped" building debris.
The incident happened this afternoon at around 3pm between Lewes and Brighton.
The railway line is closed while crews investigate it.
Southern Rail said there will be delays in the area of around 30 minutes.
A spokesman said: "The train struck building debris, which we believe was fly-tipped.
"There has been some damage to the train, which our engineers are assessing.
“To assist with your journey you can use your tickets on Brighton and Hove buses between Brighton, Lewes and Eastbourne.”
