Two Lloyds Bank branches in Sussex will close later this year, the company has confirmed.

The bank’s branches in Beach Road in Littlehampton and The Street in Rustington will close in May and June respectively.

The two branches are among more than 20 earmarked for closure across the country in the coming months.

Lloyds Banking Group said that increasing numbers of customers are opting to bank online, with customers being contacted to inform them of alternative services available in their area.

The firm said that 83 per cent of their Littlehampton customers and 77 per cent of those in Rustington bank in other ways, including phone or internet banking.

A spokesman for Lloyds Banking Group said: “Visits to our Littlehampton and Rustington branches have fallen over recent years as many customers now choose to bank in different ways.

“When the branches close later this year, customers can continue to bank in person with us at our Bognor and South Street Worthing branches and at local Post Offices.”

The closures will not lead to any job losses, the company has said.

The Littlehampton branch will close on May 23, with the Rustington branch closing a fortnight later on June 5.
