An animal charity is hoping to find a Valentine’s Day match for a “loveable” but overlooked deaf pooch.
Dogs Trust Shoreham is calling on local dog lovers to open their homes to jack russell Logan in time for February 14.
The one-year-old pup, who has been deaf since birth, has been described as “playful” and “smart” by the team at the rehoming centre, who say his deafness does not affect his character.
However, he will need an understanding family who can offer him plenty of patience.
His new family will need to visit the centre on multiple occasions to build up a trusting relationship, and so that the Dogs Trust training team can pass on his ongoing training plans.
A local home, within a two-hours’ drive of the Shoreham rehoming centre (BN43 5LT) is essential.
A Dogs Trust Shoreham spokesman said: “Logan is the most affectionate and loving little dog who will love nothing more than snuggling up on your lap for cuddles once he has made friends with you.
“Just as active in mind as he is in energy levels, Logan enjoys any activity that keeps his busy brain stimulated.
“He especially appreciates food puzzles to solve, a long-lasting chew to gnaw on, or playing fun ‘find it’ games with his toys.
“Being such a clever pooch, he is also very keen to participate in his training. Any of Logan’s training will need to be achieved using sign-language, so adopters who have experience around deaf dogs would be ideal.”
Canine carer Chloe has an especially strong bond with Logan, coming in on her days off to take him to the beach.
“I know that Logan can be quite stressed and needs extra TLC, so I come in on my days off to give him some extra love,” she said.
“I love all dogs but have a real soft spot for deaf dogs, so Logan is a perfect buddy for me while he is looking for his forever home.
“I love taking Logan offsite to the beach, and my favourite thing to teach is fun new tricks.”
