A man has been arrested following a two-car crash on the A27.

The collision, which took place on Wednesday, February 8, saw one car heavily damaged in the fast lane of the road.

One lane of the A27 near the Southwick Tunnel was closed with lots of debris spread across the road.

Now, police have confirmed that a 29-year-old has been arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence of drugs.

A spokesman for Sussex Police said: “At 2.15pm on Wednesday, February 8, police responded to a two-vehicle collision on the A27 in Southwick.

"The lane was closed for a short time to assist colleagues from West Sussex Fire and Rescue and South East Coast Ambulance Service.

“A 29-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence of drugs and has been released on police bail until May 8. “

Sussex Police also confirmed that no injuries were sustained in the crash.

Photos from the incident show one car, a Mercedes, with damage to the back of the vehicle.

Traffic was slowed near the Shoreham bypass eastbound near the A283.
