After an evening in Brighton earlier this week to see live music, I walked from Church Street to East Street via New Road and North Street.
I wondered whether Phelim Mac Cafferty or any of his other flag-waving eco warriors actually walk through our city at night?
During a less than ten-minute walk I was accosted twice by beggars, abused and heckled by the drifters outside the Theatre Royal and noticed other suspicious characters sitting outside shops on both sides of North Street.
While I appreciate there are those in society who unwillingly find themselves in dire situation, there seems to be an apparent disregard for the general public who simply wish to have a night out and support local businesses such as restaurants and live venues without experiencing the hassle that I experienced?
Personally, I feel reasonably confident walking through the city in these circumstances as I have over 30 years' experience in martial arts but I would expect the majority of the public, especially women, to feel extremely intimidated walking through Brighton centre.
Mr Mac Cafferty simply moans about lack of government finances while disregarding the state of the city that he likes to boast about being so proud of.
Isn’t it about time he stops worrying about weed killers and cycle lanes and actually address some of the city’s problems?
