Britain’s biggest touring food and music festival is returning to the city this spring.

Dubbed the “Gastro-Glastonbury”, Foodies Festival will feature three days of live cooking demonstrations in Preston Park, Brighton, from top chefs from MasterChef and the Great British Bake Off, as well as top-rated Michelin-starred and award-winning chefs.

Among those appearing will include Brighton-based 2018 MasterChef champion Kenny Putt, winner of MasterChef: The Professionals Steven Edwards from Etch in Hove and Kemp Town resident and Bake Off favourite Jurgen Krauss.

Kenny Putt said: “It’s great to be invited back to Foodies Festival again this year and to be cooking some exciting new dishes.

Foodies puts a spotlight on some of our region’s best local restaurants and producers and really celebrates good food and drink.

“Not only that, it always such a brilliant weekend of entertainment.”

Visitors to the festival will also be entertainment by a feast of music, with Sophie Ellis-Bextor, Scouting for Girls and Spandau Ballet star Martin Kemp.

Throughout the three-day weekend, visitors will enjoy a jam-packed schedule of TV cooking show champions and award-winning chefs in the interactive live theatres, creating signature dishes and whipping up showstopping treats.

Younger guests will also get the chance to create delicious food to take away at a children’s cookery school, while adults can enjoy masterclasses in wine tasting.

Director Sue Hitchen said: “Foodies Festivals are a celebration of amazing food, drink and entertainment and we are proud to support local artisan producers and restaurants.

“We’ve all had a difficult few years, so to help keep things affordable festival prices have been frozen for the third running - even though our stars and features get bigger and better every year. We offer a great value day out for families and friends.”

For a fifth year running, the festival is supporting Musicians Against Homelessness, with tickets raising money for UK-wide homelessness charity Crisis.

The festival will return to Brighton on May Day bank holiday weekend from April 29 to May 1.

Tickets are available on the festival’s website from £3 for children and £19 for adults.
