A high street retailer is preparing to close its doors, only months after reopening in Brighton.
Stationery chain Paperchase collapsed and went into administration earlier this week after failing to find a buyer for the business.
All 106 stores, including one in Churchill Square, will close - with some 1,000 employees to lose their jobs.
It comes just months after Paperchase returned to Brighton, opening a new store in the mall in October.
The branch is now offering big discounts on all stock to customers, with posters telling passers-by “everything must go”.
Administrators from Begbies Taylor said that shops would remain open for a short time and that staff would stay in their jobs during that period.
Gift cards will continue to be honoured in the short term, but Paperchase stressed it will “not be possible” to redeem these after two weeks.
The company previously went into administration two years, with the closure of 37 stores.
Tesco has bought the rights to the brand and plans to sell Paperchase items in its supermarkets.
Jan Marchant, managing director of home and clothing at Tesco, said: “Paperchase is a well-loved brand by so many and we’re proud to bring it to Tesco stores across the UK.
“We have been building our plans to bring more brands and inspiration to the ranges we currently offer and this will help us to take those plans further.
“We look forward to sharing more with our customers in due course.”
It comes as high street electronics store Currys closes the doors of its store in Western Road, Brighton, later today.
