Tesco said it would not be commenting on whether jobs will be lost in Sussex following the announcement that the supermarket will be cutting its workforce.
It previously said it would be cutting around 2,000 jobs from stores across the country.
The job losses are set to affect Tesco’s biggest stores including superstores as well as Tesco Extra brand of shops.
When the supermarket was asked how many jobs would be lost in Sussex, a Tesco spokeswoman said they were “not commenting on specific regions” but that the cuts would affect “all our larger stores”.
These changes will exclude the 350 stores that have already made these changes over the last few years.
Tesco operates several superstores across Sussex including the Tesco superstore in North Street in Hailsham as well as Tesco Extra in Upper Shoreham Road in Shoreham.
Other stores that could be affected include the Tesco superstore in Church Road in Hove.
Tesco lead and team managers will be involved as around 1,750 roles will be affected. The supermarket is replacing the role with a new shift leader position.
Counters and hot deli sections will also be closed from Sunday, February 26.
