People are urged to get creative as the theme for an annual carnival is announced.
Registration has now opened for Eastbourne Carnival, which is believed to date back to 1895.
Revellers, volunteers and sponsors are all welcome to enter the carnival, which will be on Saturday, May 27.
The procession culminates in a street party in Victoria Place after a colourful parade between Fisherman's Green and the Wish Tower slopes.
'Sussex by the sea'
The theme for 2023 is Sussex by the sea. A spokeswoman for the carnival said: "Entrants are encouraged to get creative and feature what they love about Sussex."
Costume-making and dance workshops will be held to help people take part in the festivities.
Mina O’Brien, who chairs the carnival, said: “Last year, our entrants did a superb job of putting on a great carnival for the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee and we are very excited to see what the community brings to carnival this year with the new theme.
"The creative brief is open, but we ask that your entry is a celebration, however you choose to interpret the theme.
"We welcome musicians, singers, drummers, bands, sound systems, dancers and those that focus on their costume or floats.
"We want this carnival to be full of colour and performance."
