Police, coastguards and paramedics were at the scene of an incident on a beach today.

Emergency services were called to Brighton Beach near the i360 this afternoon. 

An ambulance was spotted on the promenade and police cars were seen with blue lights flashing.

Paramedics were seen tending to person, sitting on a bench next to the Golden Spiral Piazza.

The promenade remained open to runners and pedestrians during the incident.

An eyewitness described seeing "emergency vehicles on the seafront" with "ambulance and coastguard vehicles on the promenade by the West Pier".

"Paramedics were attending to a person on a bench," they told The Argus.

Police cars were also parked in the cycle lane on Kings Road opposite the Hilton Metropole hotel.

HM Coastguard and Sussex Police have been approached for comment.
