A driver who was five times over the legal alcohol limit is among motorists named and shamed as part of a police crackdown.
Camryn Rose, 21, was stopped by police on December after he got behind the wheel of a white van and drove into parked vehicles in Ellman Close in Crawley.
Rose, a delivery driver of no fixed address, had drunk half a bottle of rum but said he still felt “fine to drive”. He told officers that he had driven to “clear his head”.
He was disqualified from driving for three years and ordered to complete alcohol dependency treatment and 200 hours of unpaid work following the incident on December 16.
Sean Taylor, 25, crashed into trees in East Grinstead on his way home from a Christmas Party on December 17.
The plumber from Bowen Road in Tunbridge Wells claimed he had only had one pint but tested nearly three times over the limit at the roadside and later failed to provide a breath sample.
He was disqualified for 17 months after admitting to failing to provide a specimen and possession of cocaine.
Nigel Changambi was also stopped in Crawley by officers and tried to hide a wine bottle while speaking to police.
Changambi, 25, a removals operative of Browning Close in Poundhill, Crawley, admitted driving over the alcohol limit, driving without valid insurance and driving otherwise than in accordance with a licence. He was disqualified from driving for a year.
After being stopped in Chichester, Kym Debelle, 29, failed to provide a breath specimen in custody after telling officers he was “playing a game”.
Debelle, of Hearn Close in Tangmere, had earlier tested over double the legal limit. He was disqualified from driving for three years after admitting to failing to provide a specimen of breath.
Lenny Kerkhove, 29, from Shoreham, crashed into a building in Southwick Street after being involved in an altercation at a pub.
The financial insurance broker admitted driving over the legal alcohol limit and was disqualified for 14 months, as well as being ordered to pay a £409 fine.
Stephen Burden, 30, was disqualified from driving for 22 months after admitting to failing to provide a specimen of breath.
Burden, a computer engineer from Ladysmith Road in Brighton, got behind the wheel after having three pints before Christmas and was stopped in Oving Road in Chichester.
After testing nearly three times the legal limit at the roadside, he was also ordered to pay a fine of nearly £1,000.
Sussex Police have been naming and shaming motorists convicted of drink driving offences as part of a campaign to clamp down on the offences in December.
Superintendent Rachel Glenton, of the Roads Policing Unit said: “Our officers are determined to catch offenders on our roads before they cause serious harm to themselves or other road users.
“We patrol the county’s roads 24/7, every day of the year, and these results show that while we can’t be everywhere, we could be anywhere.”
A total of 233 motorists were arrested on suspicion of drink driving offences in Sussex in December.
