After another week of chilly days and sub-zero nights, some Sussex postcodes are eligible for another cold weather payment.
The government's cold weather payment scheme gives people across the country a payment if the average temperatue in their area is recorded as, or forecast to be, zero degrees celsius or below over seven consecutive days.
This scheme has been in place since November 1 and so far some Sussex postcodes have been eligible for two payments.
The second one is in place now for the week from January 17 to 23.
Temperatures are rising again but the nights remain very cold meaning people have no choice but to put the heating on.
Households in the eligible postcodes must also claim one of the following to be able to claim the payment: pension credit, income support, income-based jobseeker’s allowance, income-related employment and support allowance, universal credit or support for mortgage interest.
