Olivia Coleman has missed out on an Oscar nomination for her leading role in Empire of Light.
The actress, who stars as Hilary Small in the film shot in Sussex, was hotly tipped for a nod for her role but narrowly missed out.
The film, part of which was shot in Worthing, did receive one nomination in the shortlist for the cinematography award, with Roger Deakins recognised.
A trailer for the film included a number of Worthing landmarks including the pier and lido.
Directed by Sam Mendes, Coleman stars in the film alongside Colin Firth, Toby Jones and Michael Ward.
The film was released on January 9 and is described as a “drama about the power of human connection during turbulent times".
Cinematographer Roger Deakins spoke of shooting in Worthing and said that the town “brought a reality to the movie”.
Coleman had also been spotted filming in Worthing in October 2022 alongside Timothy Spall for Wicked Little Letters.
