An inquest has been opened into the death of a woman who died in an Airbnb after refusing hospital treatment for her anorexia.
Freya Eley, 27, was being looked after by friends who called an ambulance to take her to hospital.
Despite her friends’ concerns, Ms Eley refused to go to hospital. After her sister took over her care, the pair then went to the Airbnb in Brighton.
Ms Eley was later found dead at the Airbnb on the morning of December 16, 2022. A provisional cause of death was given as anorexia.
Brighton and Hove assistant coroner Dr Karen Henderson said at the opening of the inquest that Ms Eley was receiving “no treatment or support for her anorexia” at the time of her death. Her next of kin have been informed of the inquest.
Dr Henderson opened and immediately adjourned the inquest for further investigations to be done.
The inquest has been scheduled for June 22, 2023, at The Coroner’s Office in the Woodvale Crematorium near Lewes Road.
