Firefighters are currently tackling a blaze at a derelict house.
The B2272, Butlers Green Road, Haywards Heath, is closed due to the fire in Bolnore Lane.
The fire was first reported just before 5am this morning.
People have been advised to keep their windows and doors shut.
Two crews from Haywards Heath fire station, two from Crawley fire station and one from Hurstierpoint fire station are in attendance.
A spokesman from West Sussex Fire and Rescue Service said: “We are currently dealing with a fire at a derelict property on Bolnore Farm Lane in Haywards Heath after receiving a call from a member of public at 4.44am.
“Near-by residents are advised to keep their doors and windows closed due to smoke from the incident.”
