A £1.5 million investment to improve power supplies for hundreds of residents has been completed.
Engineers working for UK Power Networks have replaced a section of cable in the Withdean area of Brighton to ensure supplies for homes and businesses are reliable.
Crews dug trenches and installed ducts to replace the cable, which was earmarked for renewal, as part of UK Power Networks' £600 million investment into its electricity network in the South East this year.
Anthony Griffin, project manager at UK Power Networks, said: “This project is part of our ongoing programme of investment in the renewal of our networks across the South East to maintain reliable electricity supplies for homes and businesses, schools and hospitals.
“We want to thank residents for their patience while we upgraded the local electricity network.
“Our underground cables and electricity distribution substations deliver the power supplies which serve residents across Brighton, as well as enabling increasing use of low carbon technologies, such as electric vehicles and heat pumps.”
UK Power Networks is the country's largest electricity distributor, and owns and runs the over 53,000 kilometres of underground cables and overhead power lines in the South East.
