An inquest has begun into the death of a man who fell from the roof of a building during works.
Ernie Taylor, 30, died after falling from the roof of Essex House in St Aubyns Gardens in Hove on September 17, 2020.
Mr Taylor was taken to the Royal Sussex County Hospital after falling from a lightwell, a shaft running through the building from the top of the property.
He later died on September 2020 in the hospital, three days after the incident.
A jury at the inquest heard that Mr Taylor was working to help lay asphalt on the building at the time of the incident.
Paul Damario, who worked with Mr Taylor and gave evidence this morning, described him as "energetic, very lively and always worked hard".
The inquest, being held at the Leonardo’s Hotel in Stroudley Road in Brighton, is scheduled to last five days.
