A shopping centre “is underwater”.
East Sussex Fire and Rescue Service (ESFRS) shared pictures of severe flooding at Primary Meadow Shopping Centre in Hastings.
The service said the centre is closed and warned people to avoid the area.
Homes in the town have also been affected by flooding, it said, and efforts are being made to clear flood water.
A spokesman from ESFRS said: “Both sides of Priory Meadow Shopping Centre are underwater.
“The shopping centre is closed, and we ask that you avoid the area.
“We are also aware of a number of homes in the area that are affected.
“Please remain calm while efforts are being made.”
