A primary school has warned parents not to let its pupils bring a popular new energy drink into school.

The school tweeted a letter to parents and carers of its pupils warning about the Prime hydration drink.

Prime has become the must-have drink across the UK this month after it was launched by YouTube stars KSI and Logan Paul.

This warning came after two incidents in recent weeks where pupils at Bowling Park Primary School in Bradford have come into school with a bottle of Prime to drink on-site.

The thread of tweets from the school, quoting from the Prime website, said the Prime Energy drink is not recommended for children aged under 18.

The school’s tweets said: “Dear Parents/Carers, on two occasions in recent weeks, pupils have brought in a bottle of 'Prime' to drink. According to the company's website: ‘PRIME Energy contains 200mg of caffeine, per 12 oz.

“PRIME Energy is not recommended for children under the age of 18, women who are pregnant or nursing or individuals who are sensitive to caffeine".

“This makes it stronger than RedBull and other energy drinks - and equivalent to drinking 5 cups of coffee. Please can you support us to ensure our children do not bring energy drinks into school. Thank you.”
