Motorists are facing delays of up to 40 minutes on the A27 after a fuel spillage.
Part of the A27 near Arundel is closed westbound following the spillage from a heavy goods vehicle, causing widespread tailbacks along the highway.
Sussex Police are attending the scene of the incident.
A diversion is in place, with drivers advised to follow road signs with a hollow triangle.
Footage and pictures from the scene show motorists stuck in long queues on the A27 due to the closure.
