We are continually bombarded in this area about mis-expenditure by ‘The Government’.
Well here we are. The local council have all but picked the pockets of the Madeira Arch funding by rinsing 25 grand on Neon Lighting to light up a building site for all the thousands of people that planned to gather there for festivities, to enjoy the grubby building site hoarding opposite and road works.

The seasonal bike lane and the pathetic insufficient street lighting replaced the ornamental historic lights that lit the place up like a sea side strip.
I am all for supporting local traders but in this case the money could have gone towards restoration of the arches, or even changing the droves of dead lightbulbs along the seafront lamp post strings.
And if we get the same old Bleat about it being a different budget, they could have given it to children’s wards and organisations. And as for the five year plan, one of them is broken already. The Green Dream is a Nightmare.
